Every year a bunch of 'Reel' Women get together to participate in a female fishing comp called the 'Reel Women's Barra Classic' up here in the Northern Territory. The comp is held at Dundee Beach, where competitors head out to the Finnis River on the endeavour to catch some big barramundi! Teams can decided whether they hit the river 'Independently' or alternatively can of course have a male skipper to assist them with the blokey stuff. The skipper cannot, however, assist with any tying of knots, netting of fish, and of course are not aloud to have a line in the water, or touch the fishing rods at any stage of the competition.
Yet again this year I was very lucky to be invited back into the consistently entering team "Chix with Stix'. It's an incredibly fun weekend so it's always exciting to be part of the action. As per previous years, I designed our team shirts, which then were printed by Big Fish Graphics (another local company). I was particularly proud of the design this year, as for the first time I could put my business logo on them. We had heaps of feedback on them, and apparently looked very 'professional' on the water which is fantastic.
A huge thank you ofcourse to our sponsors who make the annual weekend possible for us. We placed 7th out of 30 teams which was a fantastic effort considering it wasn’t a big weekend of fish caught. I had fun reeling in my 55cm Barra, a bit smaller than previous years but still great fun!
I am particularly proud of our effort being the first boat on the water both days, meaning we got to watch this glorious sunrise on day 1.
Thanks for an amazing weekend ladies, bring on 2015. If anyone is interested in getting fishing (or any corporate or competition) shirts designed, please email or give me a call – I'd love to help out!
